Earlier today, Panasonic announced it has nixed their Jungle online gaming handheld. The juggernaut of consumer electronics says they would like to go in a different direction.
"Panasonic decided to suspend further development due to changes in the market and in our own strategic direction."
The Jungle device was first announced in October 2010. Since that time, not a single update was made, leaving many to believe the handheld didn't have much of a future. When revealed, the device was geared towards MMO players with titles such as RuneScape.
Should the Jungle have been released, it would have faced stiff competition from the Nintendo 3DS and the Sony NGP. The 3DS is set for a March 27 release date while the NGP will be released later this year.
Many experts slammed Panasonic's new handheld from the start. Critics didn't like the size of the device and believed it didn't stand a chance against Sony or Nintendo.
