THQ announced today (June 1, 2011) that Darksiders II will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in 2012.
While details are scarce, THQ says the second installment will not follow the original protagonist, War. Instead the game will follow Death, the horseman.

Death's objective is to clear War's name of any wrongdoing he's been accused of, saving the world in the process.
The publishers of the Darksiders series are aiming for, "a dramatically larger world" in the second game.
Upgradable equipment, bigger dungeons and new enemies are also in the cards.
