Popular in the days of the NES, Pro Wrestling hit the console back in the 1980’s. It was one of the first wrestling games to actually have an active referee during a match.
The referee would run up to you and do a countdown when needed too. The A.I. was pretty much accurate when it came down to doing its job.
The game even became a fan favorite in the fighting game community because of its gameplay at the time. It held a lot of the key elements for wrestling. It was the second game on the NES to do that.
Holding many positive reviews, the game even started its own meme because of the popularity of its in game typo “The winner is you!"
The unique gameplay and spot on referee A.I. paved the way for the future wrestling games. Well, at least the ones for the N64. Oh wait, those games didn't have an actual ref. Either way it's still better than the clumsy official in the Smackdown vs. Raw series.
Pro Wrestling also includes multiplayer. Playing with a friend adds to the replay value in the game. It’s a blast even today for wrestling enthusiasts and even the casual fan. You know, the one that cheers for John Cena.
In total there are seven characters you can choose from. They each have their own special abilities.
Try out this retro game if you want to have a feel for what it was like for gaming in the 80s. It’s a simple yet fun game anyone could enjoy.
