What you need to know about Street Fighter x Tekken gems

Still confused about gems?

You're not the only one, which is why Capcom has gone in-depth on the Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT) gem system. It seems like ever since it was first announced, the gem system has been met with confusion and criticism.

Capcom community manager Seth Killian has said in the past that the system has been misunderstood and confusion has caused an uproar. Perhaps this new feature is indeed misunderstood and SFxT fans need more information.

In we go:

There are 57 standard gems in total. 52 of these gems are boost while five are assists. Each character gets three slots for gems of any combination.

This allows you to customize your character with additional powers and effects in the five classes, which are: Attack, Defense, Speed, Vitality and Cross Gauge. You must activate the gems each round in order for them to take effect.

While gems do have benefits, they also have drawbacks. For example, immense power at level two will do 20-percent more damage, but your speed will decrease by 10-percent. To activate these gems, you need to land a certain amount of normal moves.
