Capcom to release post Steamworks transition patch for AE 2012 this weekend

It looks like PC gamers won't be suffering much longer. Capcom is set to release a patch that fixes a lot of the bugs that came with the Steamworks transition.

Band-Aid incoming.

It was to be a glorious day when the PC version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 transitioned from Games For Windows Live to Steamworks. Birds would sing, cats would purr and dogs would bark out of love.

Or so we thought.

The transition may have brought solid features such as the ability to change your user name for free, but it also came with a dose of bugs. These glitches ranged from region locking in matchmaking to sound stuttering and more.

Luckily, Capcom is acting fast. One of the company's employees, Christopher Smith has been on the Steam community forums getting feedback from players on the issues they are having. He has promised an investigation into all of the issues that have been presented. For now, the most glaring issues will be fixed with a patch sometime this weekend.

Here are the bugs that will be fixed in this weekend's patch.

- Region restriction in matchmaking is being addressed.
- Adding ability to mute out within the in-game options.
- Setting the BGM to 0 will mute the music completely.
- The 11th and 12th colors from SFIV will be unlocked for everyone.
- Constant prompt and need to install the redistributable will be removed.
- The GFWL install attempt will also be fixed.
- The country flag placeholder will now display the neutral grey SSFIVAE logo instead of the Ultra SFIV logo.

Fernando's POV: It's great to see Capcom is moving at a swift pace to get these issues rectified. I've been having some offline and online lag since the Steamworks transition. In-game sound also leaks through your opponent's microphone, making the game twice as loud. Weird stuff since the transition, but I'm glad Capcom is taking notice and working to fix some things by this weekend.
