Fighting games have recently seen a surge on PC services such as Steam. Head past the jump to see why we believe the trend will only grow stronger.
"Let's fight like gentlemen."
More and more fighting games are making their way into PCs through Steam. Finally, we now have games previously only seen on consoles and Arcades. These franchises include: Skullgirls, Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, Street Fighter and more.
This is a good indicator that the fighting game library will expand even more in the future. I'd love to see Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and future current gen titles on Steam. With the current rise of games like Ultra Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat X coming soon, this will likely become a reality.
This makes me excited.
It appears publishers and developers
are realizing that releasing more fighting games on Steam would help them
greatly. The audience for the Valve platform is much bigger than it
appears. Just look what happened when Alan Wake was released on PC (via Kotaku).
If more fighting games were
released on Steam, it would attract more attention to people, expand its own community and increase sales. People who only game on PC
will finally have access to the titles which will create more fans.
For example a lot of new players are playing AE 2012 as we speak.
I'm one of them.
