Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon was present at Evo 2014 in Las Vegas. There, Boon announced Raiden as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X. The reveal came following Injustice: Gods Among Us top 8 action.
NetherRealm promised an announcement before the top 8 matches. The unveiling was delayed.
